background music

First paragraph: Describe the scene (the circumstances, what happens during the scene, the characters involved, the setting, etc.)

Second paragraph: discuss why you like the scene (Can you relate to it in any way? Does it show something about the characters involved? Is it funny, inspiring, or sad? Does it make you feel good? ...)

Third paragraph: think about a song that would make for good background music to the scene. Explain the song (what it sounds like, who it's by, what it's about, and why it would work well with this part of The Odyssey. Include a link to the lyrics and/or a streamable version or video of the song in your post. You can even embed the song/video if you want to get fancy. After you've this, visit one of your classmates pages (available on the student directory page). Read what they wrote about their favorite scene and the music that should go with it, and leave them a comment (50 words minimum) about what they wrote.

The scene that I have chosen is the scene when Odysseus is speaking to his wife but she doesn't know that it is him. The servant/ housekeeper had just got done washing his feet. She knew that it was him but she promised him that she wouldn't blow his cover. She's telling him how much she misses him, and how she wishes he would come back. Odysseus kept his mouth closed though, so he didn't blow his cover. She told him that if he doesn't come back by tomorrow , that she'd have to remarry to someone else. Odysseus was very devastated.

I like this scene because of the way it happened. I cant believe she sat in her husbands face and didn't know that it was him. I understand that he was in a cover , so nobody would be able to recognize him, but for his own wife not to recognize him that's sad. Her not being able to recognize him is also a time indicator , as to how long he's really been gone. This also gave Odysseus a chance to really understand how his wife feels about him. For her to open up her heart to a complete stranger, and it be about him is amazing to him probably. I think this scene is kind of sad for him to sit her and have to listen to his wife say how much she misses him , and cant wait for him to come home. He also has to hear the news , that if he doesn't come back by tomorrow she was going to remarry. That has to be heartbreaking.

The background music that i have chosen for this scene is Brian McKnight 6 months 8 days 12 hours. I chose this song because it fits in so perfectly. She's trying to get over him because hes been gone so long that she think something probably happen to him and hes long gone. At the same time though , she wants him so bad that shed do anything to have him there with her. This song could also be coming from his point of view, asking her all these questions about missing him.

Brian McKnight 6 months 8 days 12 hours
Ooh, ooh Do you ever think about me? Do you ever cry yourself to sleep In the middle of the night when you're awake, Are you calling out for me? Do you ever reminisce? I can't believe I'm acting like this I know it's crazy How I still can feel your kiss
It's been six months, eight days, twelve hours Since you went away I miss you so much and I don't know what to say I should be over you I should know better but it's just not the case It's been six months, eight days, twelve hours Since you went away
Do you ever ask about me? Do your friends still tell you what to do? Every time the phone rings, Do you wish it was me calling you? Do you still feel the same? Or has time put out the flame? I miss you Is everything okay?
It's been six months, eight days, twelve hours Since you went away I miss you so much and I don't know what to say I should be over you I should know better but it's just not the case It's been six months, eight days, twelve hours Since you went away
It's hard enough just passing the time When I can't seem to get you off my mind And where is the good in goodbye? Tell me why, tell me why
It's been six months, eight days, twelve hours Since you went away I miss you so much and I don't know what to say I should be over you I should know better but it's just not the case It's been six months, eight days, twelve hours Since you went away
Sing it for me Ooh, ooh
